Measurements and Analysis

Measurements and Analysis projects at AOI include multiple functions and tasks, from pre-test planning to post-test diagnostics. Information from models and measurements is combined to support diagnostic interpretations and quantitative assessments.

Multispectral Plume Imagery
Visible
Mid-Wave Infrared
Long-Wave Infrared
Atlas missile plume at 13 km altitude in multiple spectral bands from a ground sensor platform. Multi-spectral plume image data are used to determine physical mechanisms and to validate simulation codes.

Pre-Calibration
Post-Calibration
Atlas missile plume sequential-image histograms for mid-wave band (color denotes probability). The histograms are used for optimizing configurations, verifying calibrations, and characterizing phenomena.

Multispectral Terrain/Cloud Imagery
Thermal Band
Solar Band
High-altitude clouds over desert terrain in short-wave (solar) and long-wave (thermal) infrared bands from a high-altitude aircraft sensor platform. Multi-spectral background image data are used for characterization of materials and clutter.

Space-Based Surveillance

Time

Time
Missile trajectory and plume intensity from a remote satellite infrared sensor platform. Missile plume data are used to identify and track launch events on a global scale.

Laser-Radar Cross Section (LRCS)
LRCS for a spinning cone from 45 degrees off-axis. Measurement resolution in time or frequency yields object resolution in range or velocity.
